Adding chocolate to your diet might seem like a way to make it less healthy instead of more healthy, but as a matter of fact, dark chocolate is much better for your health than most people think.
Dark chocolate varieties are often low in added sugar and contain very beneficial components called flavanols. Flavanols do great things in your body and are fantastic nutrients; one of their effects is to help blood vessels be more elastic and resistant.
This is the opposite effect of bad cholesterol, so if you have a cholesterol problem going on, you can kill two birds with one rock with this one. More elastic blood vessels can adapt to blood flow and therefore keep your pressure where it should be. Inversely, more rigid blood vessels often mean higher blood pressure as well as increased risk of thrombosis and other sorts of obstructions that are potentially dangerous for your life.
