2. Fatigue
Early symptoms of lyme disease can mimic the flu. Often times, the symptoms of lyme disease are cyclical. They will wane and wax every few weeks. One of the most frequently reported symptoms is exhaustion, tiredness, and a simple lack of energy. Lyme fatigue will be different from regular tiredness as you will not be able to point to anything as a cause. Fatigue can simply take over your body and can be quite severe.
A person who is suffering from lyme disease may find that they need to sleep more than usual. One study of adults with lyme disease reported that nearly three fourths of the adults who suffered from the disease reported fatigue as a symptom. Often times, when a person reports being extra tired they are misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, or depression. In cases of lyme disease, the fatigue can become quite disabling.
