6. Swollen eyelids
Another common symptom of pink eye that can sometimes be noticed in the early stages of the condition is swollen eyelids. Since this condition inflames or swells the conjunctiva, a thin membrane that lines the inner surface of the eyelids, it’s no wonder that the pink eye can cause eyelid swelling. In the beginning stages of the pink eye, your eyelids may be slightly swollen and you might associate that swelling with a lack of sleep. Just like other symptoms that are associated with this condition, as it progresses, the swelling can become worse, making the affected eye look almost as if it is droopy or partially closed. If you are experiencing swelling in one or both of your eyelids, your eyes are watery, are producing discharge, or are red, make sure you avoid touching your eyes and see a doctor as soon as possible to have them assessed.
