2. Warm Bath
While it is important to avoid the temptation to squirt water into your ear, warm water can nevertheless be effective in helping to further break up the wax and is also therapeutic. Squirting water into the ear runs the risk of damaging the eardrum and potentially causing permanent hearing damage. It can also impact the wax further into the ear.
However, simply laying in warm water will cause it to gradually move inside the ear canal where it can soften the wax and help it to leak back out. What’s more, is that the warm water is relaxing and comforting and can help to ease any pain and discomfort that you might be feeling.
When taking a warm bath to treat an ear infection, you can of course add oils and other remedies in order to help improve the therapeutic benefits. We will discuss some of these subsequently in this article.
