Unfortunately, lice infestations still happen these days. Science is done a great deal to combat parasites and the diseases that they spread, but they have not been able to completely eliminate lice. There are three kinds of lice that can cause problems for human beings.
By far, the most common type of lice is head lice. This type of lice starts on the scalp and sometimes can extend to the neck as well. Lice actually attach their eggs to the bottom of the hairs on your head, so unless you are completely bald, you are always somewhat vulnerable. Body lice live in your clothing and on your bedding.
This usually isn’t a problem if regular bathing and washing of clothes are habitual. Finally, there are pubic lice that infest your pubic hair. Luckily, there are some remedies that are effective at getting rid of lice. Let’s look at thirteen of them
1. Olive Oil
The first remedy that we will be discussing is olive oil. Most people have olive oil already in their kitchen as part of their cooking ingredients. Olive oil is one of the safest and most effective remedies for lice. It does take some time to get rid of lice using olive oil, but there is no doubt that it is effective and it has been shown in both laboratory studies and through anecdotal evidence from tens of thousands of people who have used this remedy in recent decades.
The length of time required to get rid of lice through this method is about three weeks. The reason that you have to apply the treatment for three weeks has to do with the fact that if the eggs hatch the infestation starts all over again. You’ll use olive oil every two or three days on the affected area for the entire three week period.
