3. Rash
The next stage in the progression of shingles is likely the formation of the rash. This is also perhaps the most obvious of the symptoms and the one that shingles is best known for. Remember, this is the same bacteria that is responsible for chickenpox, so it should be no surprise that it also causes a rash here!
The main difference between shingles and chickenpox in terms of appearance is that while chickenpox affects the entire body, shingles will only affect a single spot on the body or a specific patch on the back. It might also appear darker and/or angrier in specific clusters.
