4. Liver Problems
In patients over 40, one of the biggest tell-tale signs to look out for is liver trouble. Liver problems are a common symptom for older patients with mono and these can, in turn, result in a range of additional symptoms, including:
- Chronic fatigue
- Swelling in the legs and ankles
- Pain around the abdominal region
- Dark urine
- Itchy skin
- Jaundice
- Nausea/vomiting
That said, many things can of course cause liver problems: including traumatic injury and simply chronic liver disease. Again then, it is most important to look out for clusters of different symptoms and to consider how these paint a picture of your health and the possible issues.
