Dehydration means that you don’t have enough fluids in your body, so in some cases, you might visibly lose some volume. If you are severely dehydrated, you will actually weightless. Every gallon of water weighs about two pounds, and every time you drink two glasses of water you put on one pound.
When you don’t have enough fluids in your body, your face might get sunken and look deflated. For example, your eyes or your cheeks might look this way.
Also, in babies and toddlers, severe dehydration can cause the top of their heads to sink. This is because their skull isn’t fully formed yet, so the top of their heads is actually soft tissue. For this reason, it might sink as well if the body doesn’t have enough fluids. If your baby has a sunken top of the head, take her to the doctor immediately.
