3. Play a Computer Game… A Hard One!
Here’s a trick that’s actually quite fun – this is the kind of medicine that most people won’t mind taking!
Simply, you are just going to sit down and play a video game for a while. The reason that this works is actually two-fold. Firstly, if the game is hard enough, then it will potentially trigger a fight or flight response all on its own as you are forced to concentrate and to stay engaged with what you are doing. Heck, you could even play a game with jump scares – like Resident Evil – and potentially scare yourself out of hiccups that way!
At the same time though, simply concentrating on something other than your hiccups can sometimes be the trick you need to stop them. There is definitely a psychological/psychosomatic element here and concentrating might just be the solution you need.
