3. Consistent stomachaches
Stomachaches are a symptom of various medical conditions, such as stomach flu and food poisoning; however, it can most certainly be a side effect of a peptic ulcer. A stomachache associated with a peptic ulcer is usually different from stomachaches that are caused by other ailments. Initially, the aching may be dull, yet nagging. It can also be consistent. Over the course of time, as the ulcer progresses, you could start to experience more intense aching.
The cause of a stomachache related to an ulcer is usually the result of swelling that can occur around the ulcer, as well as the overall irritation it causes. You might notice that the aching becomes more intense after eating, but you will likely experience it on a consistent basis. If you have a long-lasting stomachache, make sure to see your doctor, as you could very well have an ulcer.
