2. Exhaustion
A by-product of stress is exhaustion and fatigue which can bring on eye twitching. This fatigue isn’t specific to overuse of the eyes or not using reading glasses, but feeling generally exhausted can cause your eyes to twitch. This may be a signal that it is time to rest and take a day or two off if you can.
Stress can also deplete the body of essential minerals, and lack of proper nutrients can cause eyes to blink spontaneously. Make sure you are getting enough magnesium, which is a mineral that helps relax the muscles and prevents irregular twitching.
Check your supplement to make sure it contains this mineral or consume foods rich in magnesium such as nuts, grains, avocados and peanut butter. If you can’t take a whole day off, at least ensure you have a good nap now and again.
