5. Dehydration
If your eye is twitching and you also feel a bit less energetic than usual, you may want to rule out dehydration as a cause. When the weather heats up or if you have been engaging in strenuous exercise and have not been drinking enough, eye twitching may be the result. It isn’t just the eyes that are affected by dehydration but other muscles may be vulnerable to twitching or cramps.
This happens because of the electrolyte imbalance that happens when the body does not get enough fluids or the right kinds of fluids. Electrolytes ensure the proper functioning of muscles and they may go into overdrive if the right balance is not maintained. Getting plenty of fluids is one way to prevent this happening.
Eating foods high in potassium, which regulates muscle functioning, can keep the twitching away. Avoid fluids such as coffee and alcohol that can actually rob the body of fluids.
