Because the stomach is quite a complex area containing lots of organs and chemicals, it is quite common for us to ‘overthink’ it and to come up with exotic explanations for why we might be feeling pain here. In fact though, very often the answer is simple. It may for instance be the case that you have simply experienced an impact or a trauma to the stomach.
If you have been punched in the stomach, if you have fallen over or if you have otherwise received some kind of blow in this area, then it’s very possible that this could explain your stomach pain! Often we do experience bumps and bruises that we don’t remember receiving: this could be the result of a restless night’s sleep for a bedfellow for instance, or of a minor bump that didn’t seem like a big issue at the time!
Stomach pain due to impact is muscular in nature and to that end will benefit from a warm compress (rather than cold). This will help to relax the muscle and encourage blood flow.
