20 Powerful Foods to Lower Blood Pressure without Medication

New Articles: Nutrition March 5, 2018

Everyone wants to lower their blood pressure. But you can really lower your blood pressure without taking medication? If your doctor prescribes you medication for your blood pressure, then there is a very good chance that he or she has weighed the risks and determined that the medication is necessary, even if there are side effects, but if your doctor has decided that medication isn’t yet necessary yet, or you are trying to deal with the problem on your own, then you might want to try some of these foods that can lower blood pressure.

There are quite a few of them, so you should have no problem incorporating them into your diet. These foods have more benefits for your health than just the fact that they lower blood pressure, but that is definitely a terrific reason to add them to the foods you already eat.

1. Leafy Greens

The first food that we’ll discuss is the category known as leafy greens. Leafy greens are incredibly healthy for you in a variety of different ways. They have a lot of potassium, lots of water, and all kinds of nutrients that your body needs. However, you have to remember to eat them fresh because when vegetables get canned, they have all kinds of added sodium and a lot of the nutrients are stripped away.

But you can go frozen if you don’t want to go with fresh leafy greens. Frozen vegetables have nearly as many nutrients as fresh ones, so they are perfectly okay to add to your diet to reduce blood pressure. Some of the veggies that fall in this category include kale, collard greens, beet greens, chard, spinach, and romaine lettuce. However, the description says it all. If a vegetable is leafy and green, then it probably falls into this category.
