3. Salmon
Salmon is one of the best sources available for omega 3 fatty acids. This is a crucial essential fatty acid which plays a huge role in very important jobs in the body. Among other things, omega 3 is used in the creation of cell membranes – the walls surrounding the cells. When you consume omega 3 fatty acids, this then helps to improve the fluidity and flexibility of those walls, increasing the health of the cells and helping messages to be passed in and out of cells more effectively.
On top of this, omega 3 fatty acid also helps to keep another essential fatty acid in check: omega 6. While omega 6 fatty acid is also important for health, problems arise when you have too much omega 6 and not enough omega 3.
Specifically, this is known to cause inflammation.
By eating a diet high in omega 3, you can reset this balance as it should be. And this is recommended for many people, seeing as the modern diet contains very little seafood and a whole lot of added omega 6 for preservative purposes.
