4. Shin Splints
Shin splints are characterized by a sharp pain in the lower legs at the front. You may notice it if you run or walk quickly and suddenly have to stop. Shin splints are also called tibial stress syndrome or TBS and can last a long or short period of time depending on the severity. It is caused by damage to the connective tissue that has been torn or strain on the shin bone.
People with flat feet or an outward rotation tend to be more vulnerable to this condition. You can avoid this problem by wearing shoes that fit properly or warming up and cooling down sufficiently before and after a workout. Go to a doctor if the pain doesn’t go away, and the doctor can diagnose the problem using X-rays. You can ease the pain by applying ice to the area and wearing insoles in your shoes to provide support.
