When it comes to foods that have a low glycemic index, sweet potatoes are one of the best options. This is because they have a very low GI of just 48. When compared to regular potatoes, sweet potatoes become more acceptable. This makes them a great alternative to any meal that you are creating with potatoes. Regular potatoes are quite common amongst dinner tables as they can be made into many types of meals and served in the form of fries or chips as a side dish.

You can swap in a sweet potato for a regular potato in almost any recipe. This is a great choice if you are trying to lower the number of carbs that you are eating or if you are on a low GI diet. Choosing sweet potato fries instead of regular fries is a great way to get a healthier version of a snack that you likely enjoy.
