Magnesium plays a role in a number of bodily processes, and low levels of Magnesium have been linked to several serious diseases. That’s why it makes sense to eat a diet rich in Magnesium over a lifetime. You could pop a Magnesium pill, but some studies have shown that artificial vitamins and minerals aren’t as good as the real thing. Magnesium in food form is highly bioavailable, and you can absorb it best when it’s consumed through foods.

There are many foods rich in Magnesium, and most of them are pretty delicious. Some foods rich in Magnesium include avocados, almonds, and figs. It’s not just leafy greens and bland vegetables. 1. Spinach, Swiss Chard, and Other Dark Leafy Greens

Dark leafy greens are some of the best sources of Magnesium. Dark leafy greens help balance the pH in the body and guard against the effects of acidic foods in your diet. Some of the best dark leafy greens include collard greens, iceberg lettuce, arugula mustard greens, romaine lettuce, spinach, Swiss chard, and turnip greens. You can even blend them all together and make a vegetable smoothie. Add a couple of apples, a handful of blueberries, and some ginger for taste. Spinach is a nutritional powerhouse.

It has potassium, folate, vitamin B6, and it is one of the best green vegetable sources of Magnesium. You can easily incorporate it into your diet. Make a salad, pop it in a smoothie, or add it to your morning omelet. Dark leafy greens are also anti-inflammatory. A recent study of men showed that those who ate spinach regularly had higher levels of magnesium.
