2. A Warm Compress
Another way to reduce pain in the throat is to use a warm compress. This can help by relaxing the muscles in the throat and by encouraging blood flow to the area. That blood flow can supply the inflamed area with more nutrients and with greater healing capabilities.
And of course, warmth can also be very effective at reducing pain on its own. One way to benefit from this is by using a hot water bottle – being careful not to scold the skin. Another way is to use a rice sock. This is something you can make yourself in order to use it as a hot compress.
Take the sock and fill it with rice, then tie a knot in the end. Now place the sock in the microwave and allow it to heat up. This will hold on to that heat, allowing you to use it gently against the throat to reduce inflammation and encourage recovery.
