10. Mood Changes
Lyme disease can affect a person’s mood. People who suffer from the disease may become more depressed, anxious, or irritable. Just over twenty percent of patients who were diagnosed with lyme disease reported that they felt more irritable. In the same study around ten percent reported that they felt more anxious.
If you notice that you have become more irritable, anxious, or depressed, or that you have sudden swings in your moods, it is important to report this to your doctor. Mood swings are considered to be symptom of lyme disease. If these mood swings are accompanied by any of the other symptoms on this list it is important to make sure that you are tested for lyme disease. As mentioned, lyme disease often goes undiagnosed or a person with lyme is often misdiagnosed with something else.
