2. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a natural source of a whole lot of beneficial active ingredients. This can help to soothe the discomfort directly and also combat the route cause of the problem: that being the infection of course! Aloe vera contains aloin and emodin, which are both powerfully antibacterial and antiviral.
They’re also great for reducing inflammation and can help to encourage circulation and bloodflow to the affected region. This in turn will help the body to drive out the infection itself and to speed up your overall recovery.
Don’t put this directly in your eye: in fact, you should be careful not to touch your eye at all when you have an infection. Instead, the aim is to try and dab the gel around the eye and eyelid. While it can touch the corneal cells safely (according to research) it’s quite uncomfortable and will hardly soothe the discomfort.
