4. Prostate Infection
An enlarged prostate may be caused by BPH and be quite harmless. However, an infection in the prostate may also be the cause of you seeing blood in your urine. If an infection occurs in the prostate it can cause the prostate to become enlarged. The swelling of the prostate as a result of an infection can cause a person to have several other symptoms as well. Some of the symptoms of an infection in the prostate include lethargy, nausea, vomiting, and fever.
If you are experiencing blood in your urine in combination with some of the other symptoms listed above, it is important to see your doctor. Your doctor will be able to determine if the swelling of your prostate is caused by an infection and if it is determined that an infection is the root of the problem, antibiotics will be prescribed. This can help alleviate your symptoms.
