19. Change Your Circadian Rhythms
What many people don’t realize is that their bowel movements are tied closely to their hormones, which in turn are tied closely to many other outside factors.
For instance, did you know that the rising and setting of the sun triggers the release of the stress hormone cortisol? This is because cortisol helps to wake us up. Likewise, when the sun sets, it results in the release of melatonin to help us go off to sleep.
Cortisol is also linked with hunger and with the absorption of nutrients from our blood. Likewise, it is linked with the hormones leptin, ghrelin, and serotonin.
In short, if you are out of sync with your body clock, it will result in you being out of sorts generally and can trigger a range of problems – diarrhea included!
