4. Butter
Going right along with the bread theme, you can add butter to the list of foods that have almost no potassium. In fact, if it wasn’t for how unhealthy butter was in all of the other ways, you could really slather it on just about any food you can think of because a typical 1 tablespoon serving of butter contains just 5 mg potassium.
As long as your doctor isn’t recommending that you avoid butter for other reasons such as blood pressure or heart health, then you should be able to eat as much butter as you like on your low potassium diet – within reason.
You can definitely combine the low potassium bread that we discussed previously with a little bit of butter, as well as adding butter to dishes that may require it for cooking. Butter is definitely not the healthiest food on the planet, but it does contain minuscule amounts of potassium.
