3 Headaches
High blood pressure can often cause severe and chronic headaches. This is the result of a number of different processes.
Firstly, high blood pressure causes the heart to pump harder. This in turn causes tension and stress and you may find that your muscles feel locked up and contracted s a result. This can actually cause what are known as ‘tension headaches’ as the muscles around the head and face start to squeeze the scalp.
At the same time, this tension and the high blood pressure itself can also interrupt the normal supply of blood to the brain. This can also trigger headaches and this can lead to pain coming and going indefinitely.
Taking aspirin is one of the most effective forms of pain relief for this kind of headache. Not only will it work to dull pain as an analgesic, but because it thins the blood, it can actually lower blood pressure at the same time.
