8. Blurred vision
Though it’s not a common symptom, some people might experience blurred vision when they have a pink eye. You might notice that your vision is particularly blurry upon waking up. That’s because as you sleep, the mucus produced by the conjunctiva collects in the eye. If that mucus is thick, it can disrupt your vision. You could also experience blurred vision as a result of excessive tearing. The tears can block the pupil, making it difficult to see clearly. However, the blurriness isn’t ongoing and will likely relieve itself after blinking or holding a warm compress over the affected eye. There are several conditions that can cause blurry vision, such as the development of cataracts, so it’s always a wise idea to see a doctor whenever you notice your vision is blurred. If blurred vision is associated with other symptoms listed here, it’s likely the result of conjunctivitis.
