6. Difficulty Writing
A combination of the aforementioned working memory deficits (which can make it hard to maintain a train of thought) along with the also-aforementioned impact to motor coordination, can make it hard for those suffering with dementia to write. You may notice changes in the handwriting as it becomes more messy or shaky, or the sufferer might try to avoid using their handwriting altogether where possible – asking others to take notes and avoiding writing letters.
