4. Solitude
Another thing you will notice about children with autism is that they have a hard time being around other children. In fact, you will notice that children with autism often end up playing by themselves. They are perfectly happy with solitude. But you should not mistake this solitude for the kind of solitude that other children make use of.
For example, you might come across your child having a tea party with imaginary characters and carrying on a dialogue with those imaginary characters. But a child with autism will be playing alone but not in the same creative way that your other children do.
They are not pretending to feed their doll’s food or give them tea, they are simply playing alone. There is a distinct difference and you should definitely look into it if this is the only warning sign that you have.
