5. Loss of Energy
When you are feeling under the weather, it isn’t unusual to feel fatigued and unable to do anything. The reason is that your body is busy fighting the invasion of microbes and can’t manage additional things. It may be more worthwhile to just take the day off and lie in bed rather than run around with an upset stomach and very little energy.
You may feel that since it is food poisoning and you aren’t contagious that it is better to go to work, but trying to push yourself when you need to rest is likely to backfire. Drink a lot of fluids, especially if you are losing fluids to vomiting and diarrhea. Becoming dehydrated can make the fatigue that happens with food poisoning worse. If you are able to eat, consume nutrient-rich foods to help rebuild the system.
