26. Chickpeas
Chickpeas, which are also called garbanzo beans are extremely nutrient-dense. They have a high amount of protein, are loaded with vitamins, and also contain phytochemicals that can help fight off chronic disease. However, they also have a high amount of carbs. A one-cup serving of chickpeas contains 45 grams of carbs. This is almost half of the daily carb intake for someone who is trying to stick to a 100 gram limit of carbs per day.
While twelve of the grams of carbs come from fiber, the others are from starches. While getting enough fiber in your diet is important, even when you are trying to avoid carbs, it is still best to try to find foods that have lower amounts of carbs so that you can stick with your low carb diet and still get the nutrients that you need.
