4. Pain Using Q-Tips
If you have an ear infection, then you might find that inserting q-tips becomes difficult and painful. Any mild pressure on the area can cause significant discomfort, while the compacted wax and inflammation can both cause a lot of pressure and lack of maneuverability in the area.
This is one reason to try to avoid using q-tips. But in fact, you should avoid using them anyway!
That’s because q-tips actually don’t help with wax but can rather make it significantly worse by pushing it deeper into the eardrum and thereby causing it to become compacted and stuck. This can make it harder to get out, can lead to hearing loss, and may even be the cause of your ear infection in the first place!
This is one hygiene habit that you can ditch.
