4. The Common Cold
If you’re like most people, every year you have to fight with the common cold at some point. It is an unfortunate fact of science that we have not yet cured a common cold and just about everyone experiences those symptoms once a year or so. But garlic is one of the substances out there that can actually help prevent the common cold and alleviate symptoms if you already have them – as well as making sure that you get over it faster.
That’s because chemical compounds that are found in garlic such as allicin can kill the microorganisms that are responsible for your cold. But it isn’t just the common cold that garlic can help with. There are lots of different infections that can be prevented or helped if you are taking garlic regularly. There have been studies pitting garlic against the placebo and researchers found that those taking garlic were much less likely to get the common cold over twelve weeks.
