4. Herring
There are some types of seafood such as scallops that are okay to eat every once in a while. However, there are other types of seafood that need to be avoided altogether if you suffer from gout. One such food is herring. Other fish that need to be avoided altogether are anchovies and tuna.
The reason that you should not eat these foods when you have gout is because of the high amount of purines that they contain. When you eat these fish it will automatically increase the amount of uric acid in the body. This in turn can increase your risk of developing gout or the symptoms of gout. If you are eating these foods and you suffer from frequent bouts of gout, you need to remove these items from your diet as soon as possible. When you are not eating them, along with some of the other foods on this list, chances are that your symptoms will be alleviated.
