5. Glands
Another of the symptoms that are more common among younger demographics is swollen glands. Specifically, teenagers and those in their early twenties might notice that they have swollen lymph nodes on the sides of their neck, just below the jawline.
The lymph nodes have a number of roles, including the job of removing toxins from the body. These can become swollen when affected by the virus and may also be somewhat uncomfortable to the touch – it may even make chewing more difficult.
If you are younger and you suspect mono, try feeling under your chin gently for the presence of swollen glands and this may be able to confirm that suspicion!
