5 Rapid Heartrate
When the heart is struggling to pump blood around the body, this of course means it needs to work harder. Therefore, simply listening out for an elevated heart rate can often be a sign of high blood pressure.
In particular, it is useful to look at what is called the ‘resting heart rate’. This is your heart rate at rest and the best time to take your pulse is when you first wake up in the morning. If your resting heart rate is high, this can point not only to high blood pressure but also general poor physical fitness.
The best solution, in this case, is to gradually increase exercise in order to help your pulse become more gentle. Speak with your physician when beginning a new course of exercise, however – this is particularly important if you are someone with poor heart health and elevated risk of stroke or heart attack.
