4. Dragging Sensation
An inguinal hernia or femoral hernia may cause a person to feel a type of dragging sensation throughout the groin area. Inguinal hernias occur when the soft tissue of the abdominal cavity, known as the omentum, will press through abdominal muscles that are weakened. A femoral hernia occurs as the sac located in the groin and thigh that is made up of intestine is forced through the wall of the femoral canal. Both of these types of hernias may cause a feeling of fullness as well.
Those that suffer from this type of hernia will not only experience the dragging sensation throughout the groin area, but they will also be in pain when they sit down or if they bend over to pick up objects. The pain can become quite intense as the pressure of these movements pushes the tissues through the muscles.
